Hossein Derakhshan has started another new weblog : STOP CENSORING US.
It is a couple of months since they have started filtering websites and weblogs inside Iran. Back in mid-July when many of us signed a petition, requesting Iranian government to free our weblogs; and it was late in September that Gooya announced a new IP address since some Iranian ISPs had filtered Gooya news. Now again as Derkhshan states: Iranian Telecommunication Company, the main Internet Provider in Iran, has completely filtered Google Cached version of webpages that they can not be seen in Iran already.

The Iranian Minister of Communications claimed that ISPs should only block sites on an “offical” blacklist. But the question is: “What is the black list and who is going to define this black list and based on which standards?”

Obviously most of the blocked sites are either news sites or websites and weblogs of the opposition groups or individuals. In the meantime internet, especially personal weblogs and websites have turned to be a very useful and easy means of communication and transferring data and news between Iranian insiders and outsiders. No event or news can be hidden or censored no matter how hard the government tries to keep them silenced. It reminds me of the reformist newspapers and journalists in Iran back late in the 90s .

The more they silence us, the stronger we will raise our voices: new IP addresses, new links, new websites, and new weblogs.
